B6318 Class II Road, Pentonbridge - Skippers Bridge Landslip at Glen Tarras
Notice Description
To rebuild 60m of road undermined by a landslip and to strengthen a further 100m of road to prevent further movement. Works include new road construction, structural solution to support new road and drainage works to address surface water run-off issues.

Lot 1
Following a 48 hour period of continuous torrential rain over the weekend of 4th-6th December 2015 there was a substantial movement of the ground adjacent to the downslope verge/embankment of the B6318 carriageway at Hindshole, north of Tarras Bridge, Glen Tarras. This section of the B6318 will remain closed to vehicular traffic on safety grounds until such time as a repair has been carried out to the section affected by the landslip and strengthening works have been carried out along the full 160m of existing road rendering it safe to reopen The successful Contractor will be required to: -Design and construct a suitable structure to support the public road and mitigate against further movement, -Design and reconstruct the carriageway and adjacent verge and, -Design and construct appropriate drainage works to address surface water run-off issues. -To consider solutions to repair and strengthen the 160m section of road. The supply of any required survey data and/or ground investigation shall be the responsibility of the Contractor, including provision of adequate topographical surveys to enable the project deliverables to be carried out. The development of all Options shall be carried out in close consultation with Dumfries and Galloway Council. The successful Contractor shall be required to carry out all Water Environment (Controlled Activities) Regulations 2011 (CAR) Registration or License applications and to provide technical advice during any negotiations with Landowners.. This is part funded by the Scottish Government
