Notice Description

The Authority has a requirement for a suitably qualified and experienced contractor for the provision of analysis of plankton samples which are collected as part of our ballast water sampling programme. The Contract will be for an initial 2 year period with the option to extend by two 12 month periods, subject to the satisfaction of performance by the Authority.

As part of the Orkney Islands Council (OIC) Ballast Water Management Policy (adopted by OIC in 2013) ballast water samples are collected from all vessels wishing to discharge ballast water in Scapa Flow, Orkney. The samples are collected as per the International Maritime Organization's Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments 2004 guidelines.

Renewal: Initial term of 24 months plus the option to extend by 2 x 12 months periods.
