Extension and alterations at existing entrance area of school to provide enhanced waiting/ exhibition areas and upgrade of fire alarm and fire stopping systems throughout the school which include: -forming temporary access to the school for staff, pupils and visitors for duration of the works; -using existing classroom as temporary general office for the duration of the works; -removal of asbestos based materials; -demolition and removal of the existing facade at the main entrance of the building; -downtakings including removal of internal partitions, doors, wall, floor and ceiling finishes in preparation for the new works; -forming extension to main entrance comprising, raft foundations and concrete floor screed, cavity wall construction, curtain walling and wall cladding and new roof with parapet detail connecting new downpipe to existing drainage system; -new internal and external doors; -metal stud and glazed partitions with hatch at reception area; -new wall floor and ceiling finishes within existing building and to new linked extension; -external works including the provision of new tarmac surface to perimeter of extension and new slabbed entrance area; -alteration to drainage system and position of manhole covers within the footprint of the extension; -renewal of mechanical and electrical installations associated with the new works; -upgrade of fire alarm system for the whole school; -undertake remedial work to exising firestopping for the whole school as required; and -remove all temporary works and reinstate existing classroom and stair enclosure areas upon completion.
