Lot 1
West Dunbartonshire Council is seeking to appoint a competent contractor to carry out clean up and improvement works to the foreshore area of the River Leven as part of enabling works related to the new waterfront path from Dumbarton Castle to the Town Centre. The successful contractor will be responsible for managing all aspects of the delivery of the clearance and enabling works. The Contractor will be required to carry out the following works: - Site clearance including removal of scrub, litter, flotsam and the like. - Works to avoid existing culverts and historical concrete crane hardstandings. Access to these structures must be maintained throughout and following the work. - Regrading of applicable foreshore sections to provide uniform foreshore grading. - Removal and storage on site of large brick/stone/concrete items. - Crushing and placement on site of large brick/stone/concrete items. - Removal of existing topsoil necessary by the Contractor to complete the works. - Burial of historical structural material (reinforced concrete, reinforcement brick wall, concrete counter weights in relevant areas to assist in the creation of uniform grades on the foreshore. - Removal of timber structures in the river down to Sea Bed level. - Off-site disposal of timber materials taken from the structures. - anything of historical interest found as part of the works should be retained - any material (i.e. concrete/bricks) not utilised as part of the works should be disposed of off-site. - Topographical survey at completion of the site works. The contractor will leave the 3 large concrete piers in situ; these are out with the scope of these works and are for another works programme to be confirmed. A separate contract has been placed to clear the site off vegetation to be completed by the end of February, there after the enabling clearance works and profiling of the foreshore works can be started which must be completed in the 12-15weeks programme estimated with a clear completion date in advance of 31st August 2018, Due to environmental constraints regarding the Redshank wintering season.
