Notice Title

Business Case for a Learning Disability Complex Care Service

Notice Description

Scottish Borders Council (the Council) is seeking to develop a business case for a learning disability complex care service. The Council are seeking to meet with Providers who have experience of being involved in the development of new purpose built accommodation for adults with a learning disability who display behaviours that challenge services, family members or carers.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The level of the challenge is likely to be such that previously the person would have been at risk of being placed out of area. The focus of the service will be to provide support in the least restrictive setting, aiming to prevent, reduce or stop the development of future episodes of behaviours that challenge and to improve the quality of life of individuals by offering support and interventions focussed on increasing life skills. Providers must also have experience of providing this type of service on a supported living type model. The Council would like to meet with Providers, willing to share their experience, to gain as much knowledge and information from the process to enable us to develop a realistic business case and specification. There is a possibility that we may do this in collaboration with another Local Authority. At this point in time we are looking at the possibility of two options either a 6 bedded unit or a 12 bedded unit. If you are interested in being involved in the above discussions and feel you have the experience please can you complete and return the attached document emailing it to procurement@scortborders.gov.uk prior to 2pm on Friday 9th March 2018. It is the intention of the council to meet with providers to start the discussions above on Thursday 15th March 2018 at 9am and have scheduled 3 hours for these discussions.
