Ground investigation works are required to confirm the nature and composition of the ground underlying the site.
Lot Information
Lot 1
The investigations shall include, cable percussion and trail pitting within superficial deposits and rotary drilling follow on into bedrock. Geotechnical and geoenvironmental sampling and laboratory testing, in situ testing, installation of monitoring wells and reporting on all aspects of the investigation The Contract works allows for the following: - Removal (and replacement where required) of existing headworks to enable access to existing gas and groundwater monitoring boreholes. - Cable percussive drilling with disturbed and undisturbed sampling through superficial deposits; - Rotary coring follow-on in bedrock with core recovery; - Trial pitting in superficial deposits; - Thin walled UT100 samples, or U100 if UT100 not possible, in accordance with Clause 6.4.2.3.2 of EN ISO 22475 1:2006; - In-situ standard penetration tests (SPTs) in boreholes; - In-situ CBR tests in trial pits - Logging of inspection pits, trial pits, retrieved soil and core samples by an experienced engineering geologist or geotechnical engineer; - Photographs of trial pits and retrieved soil and rock samples; - Hand excavated inspection pits with samples (for the identification and avoidance of buried services; - Cable Avoidance Tool / Genny scans in addition to hand excavated pits prior to commencement of any exploratory holes to check the absence of existing services; - Installation of monitoring wells for groundwater monitoring and sampling. - Groundwater and gas monitoring; - Geotechnical laboratory testing; - Geo-environmental laboratory testing; - Geochemical laboratory testing; and; - Factual reporting. A factual report is required covering all aspects of the ground investigation. This shall include preparation of detailed Engineer's logs of trial pits, boreholes and retrieved samples in accordance with BS EN 14688 Parts 1 and 2 BS EN ISO 14689-1 and BS 5930. The preparation of and issue of factual information in AGS v4.0 data, electronic and hard copy format shall also be included. Indicative exploratory positions are shown on the Contract Drawings with an overview provided in Schedule 2. Co-ordinates for the proposed positions shall be provided on contract award. Final positions of exploratory holes are to be agreed on site with the Investigation Supervisor. Final 'as-drilled' locations are required to be surveyed by the Contractor on completion of the exploratory holes.
