Notice Description

Renfrewshire Council wish to appoint a suitably experience contractor to enable the purchase and installation of a large modular building that will temporarily accommodate the Paisley Central Library whilst works are ongoing as part of the 42m Paisley Museum Reimagined project and the 7m development of the new Paisley Learning and Cultural Hub. Paisley Museum is a Category A listed building and currently houses the Paisley Central Library in addition to the main museum space. To make way for the expansion and major refurbishment of Paisley Museum, the Paisley Central Library is to be incorporated in to the new Paisley Learning and Cultural Hub.

With Paisley Museum and Paisley Central Library due to close early September 2018 and with the new Paisley Learning and Cultural Hub not due to open until Summer 2021, it has been agreed by the relevant Council Steering Board to purchase and install a modular building facility within the Paisley Lagoon Centre South Car Park, Mill Street, Paisley as the preferred option to accommodate the library whilst construction works are completed. By installing a modular building facility at this site, it is hoped that services provided by the Paisley Central library will be able continue with limited disruption all within a location with historic site access, connections etc.
