Summary of the contracting process

The Tayside Procurement Consortium, based in Dundee, is conducting an open procurement process for the "National Assistance Funerals" service, a critical service mandated under the National Assistance Act 1948. This tender is aimed at providing public health funerals for individuals lacking relatives to manage their funeral arrangements. Currently, the procurement is in the active tender stage, with the submission deadline set for 17 August 2018. The contract is to be fulfilled within the Perth and Kinross area, divided into three geographical lots, with a total value of £134,000. The procurement process utilises an open procedure, facilitating competition among suppliers.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for funeral service providers, especially those with a solid track record in public health funerals and the capacity to operate in the specified geographical areas. Businesses equipped to handle statutory funeral services and those able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the selection criteria are well-suited for this contract. The tender is structured to encourage competition, making it essential for businesses to showcase their capabilities and meet the necessary requirements to secure a place within the framework contract.
