The Council's public transport information system and interactive software is run on software provided by a company called GRM (which was competitively tendered for and awarded to GRM). The Council have been grant funded to provide several interactive kiosks running this software . This extra work involves providing the kiosks and screens and coordinating this with the development interface to work effectively. The data in the communication has proved to be efficient and workable and there is no obligation to provide any additional data or demand to allow the interactive information to be displayed From a Council point of view, the kiosk software is unique and the software provided by GRM is compatible and is consistent. Ensuring that all digital platforms pertaining to Cartogold mapping and solutions is consistent and proving. As they are able to incorporate all the software, installation, support and maintenance as one. The touch screen and mouse pad for the accessibility function is unique to GRM. Thus enabling anyone in a wheelchair or finding it hard to reach the screen, can use the track pad to access the area as normal.

Procurement Information

The market structure suggests there a limited number of providers, however as our software is GRM supplied the new hardware must be compatible and tried and tested with that software. This we believe the amount of development and investment that has gone into the GRM system by the Council merits a direct award for this upgrade . If to be fully tendered, we do not believe a differing outcome would be achieved due to the factors mentioned above.
