Lot Information
Lot 1
Young Carers Support Service services are those which reduce the level of need and vulnerability for children, young people and their families, by supporting those Young Carers who are 1. in education; 2. otherwise vulnerable and in need of targeted intervention; or 3. at risk of meeting the threshold for social work assessment and intervention Building on the provision, where possible, of local services, providers will need to demonstrate and evidence how they will provide added value to the target groups identified above. The Young Carers Support Service will ensure that young carers are identified and have access to a service that fulfils the statutory duties of Aberdeen City Council and its partners in relation to the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016. The Young Carers Support Service will be creative, innovative and accessible to all, including those who are hard to reach, such as those who live with parent/carers with mental health and/or substance misuse. The Young Carers Support Service will promote the rights of young carers through the provision, protection and participation of those children and young people who continue to be negatively affected by a caring role within their family. Young carers supported by the service will have access to tailored information and advice. They will also be supported through targeted individual or group activities which not only focus on them but also take a 'whole family' approach working with other agencies, including Health Visitors, School Nurses, Schools, NESCOL, Universities and RAFT as well as services working directly with the cared-for person. They will also adhere to the following principles when developing and providing services. All services will be: - consistent with the LOIP; - underpinned by GIRFEC and the national practice model; - reliant on the Young Carers Statement both as a means of referral and an action plan from which outcomes can be assessed; - delivered as part of a multi-agency approach, avoiding services being provided by more than one provider; - built on the strengths of the individual child or young person as well as their whole family; - relationship based and attachment focussed; - contribute to specialist assessments where requested to; - provide community based flexible support solutions across 7 days as required; and be - evidence informed. Young Carers Support Service services will focus on family based interventions that use evidence informed programmes to complement services provided by not only Aberdeen City Council's Education and Children's Social Work services, but also by NHS Grampian, the Aberdeen City Health & Social Care Partnership, other Carers Support services as well as other universal services in the community. Whilst providers may seek additional funding to add value to the service that they provide, the core funding is to enable such programmes to be delivered to the target groups identified above.
