Summary of the contracting process

The Tayside Procurement Consortium has recently completed a public procurement process for the "Real Time Passenger Information Systems Upgrade and Maintenance" contract, which involved an open tendering procedure. The procurement took place in the Tayside Region, specifically covering Angus Council, Dundee City Council, and Perth and Kinross Council. The successful bidder, JMW Systems Ltd, has been awarded the contract, with a signed agreement dated 10 December 2018, valued at £680,882. This project focused on supplying, upgrading, integrating, and maintaining systems related to real-time passenger information. Although the process is now complete, it highlights the engagement of the local authority in enhancing public transport services.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in technology and service management within the transport industry. Companies that specialise in system integration, maintenance of passenger information systems, or the provision of GPRS-enabled communications would find themselves well-suited to participate in similar tenders. With increasing demand for real-time information technologies in public transport, businesses can look to align their services with future contracts from regional authorities aiming to upgrade their systems or adopt new technologies.
