Lot Information
Lot 1
Dundee City Council is providing potential bidders prior notice of an Invitation to Tender (ITT) that may be published on Public Contracts Scotland in the near future, for the supply of a service to manage the Baldovie Community Re-use Hub. The initial duration of the contract is likely to be two years with the option to extend for an additional 1 year period. Background National evidence gathered from a number of reports around re-use and repair indicates there is substantial potential to increase re-use in Scotland. Dundee City Council (DCC) has been working with local partners over the last 36 months under the Public Social Partnership Model to provide a service to recover unwanted furniture, bric-a-brac, white goods, mixed electrical appliances and bicycles for re-use. An opportunity arose through funding from Zero Waste Scotland (ZWS) to create a re-use facility for members of the public at Baldovie Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC). The Baldovie Re-use Hub accepts items that could be saved from the skip and given a new lease of life. They are repaired if required and brought back into use for people who need them the most. The hub also offers opportunities for others to learn skills needed to repair, re-use and extend the life of products via training and employment programmes. Expectations Further consideration is to be given to the nature of the services that the Council may wish to procure but they are likely to include: - Accepting and sorting of bulky waste to maximise re-use and minimise the amount to be recycled or incinerated. - To promote the benefits of re-use to the local community. - Community benefits will be added to this contract. Full details will be included in the tender documentation. - There is a requirement for all bidders to be 'Revolve' accredited or actively working towards this status. 'Revolve' is the Zero Waste Scotland quality standard and will ensure a high level of professionalism and consistency of management of re-usable goods. - There may be a requirement for bidders to include a profit sharing cost model. Information Sharing Morning An information sharing morning has been arranged for Monday 19 November 2018, 10:00 - 12:00 at Dundee House, 50 North Lindsay Street, Dundee DD1 1NZ. To register for attending the event, please email Jennifer Heighton, jennifer.heighton@dundeecity.gov.uk. Please also copy eprocurement@dundeecity.gov.uk. Please advise the names of who will be attending, and from which company / organisation.
