The Scheme enables members of the public to select local tradespersons from an index of subscribing businesses. The emphasis of the Scheme is on providing reliable, good quality information about reputable tradespeople and businesses for local residents, who can have confidence that the businesses have been vetted by Trading Standards. The services delivered by subscribing tradespersons / businesses are assessed by customers through a survey system. Customer survey information about subscribing businesses is then freely available on the website so that other members of the public may make a more informed judgement on the competence of participating businesses based on the feedback comments and rating information. The Council requires a Scheme Manager organisation to provide and maintain the Scheme's website, feedback mechanisms and all necessary back-office support.
