The NHS Grampian requirement for this mini-competition is to obtain medical services at NHS Hospitals as called off from the DPS NP676/17. The objective is to help support NHS Grampian in reducing their waiting time lists. The service is to fully staff a Cataract Procedure room and associated ambulatory patient admission/discharge area which is located in the Eye Outpatient Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary The provider should provide staff to fully run: - The admission/discharge room which has chairs for patients to wait pre- and post-procedure - The procedure room itself - The operator (LA Procedures only) The expectation is that this room will be run all day Monday to Fridays from 7th January 2019 to 1st March 2019. There will be no NHS Grampian staff available to support this workload which should be self-contained. Staff will be available during the hours of operation within the EOPD to facilitate any minor difficulties. - The patients will have been assessed as requiring a cataract procedure by NHS Grampian. - The provider should dictate a discharge letter post-procedure per patient - Cataract follow-up is via community opticians in NHS Grampian. Any deviation from this practice should be clearly explained on a case by case basis. The service response should cover: - How the service will orientate itself to the cataract procedure room to allow its staff to operate independently - An assurance of the clinical competence of the entire team to operate indepdently. - CVs of all potential operators - An assurance that no member of staff used by the operator will have a current staffing contract whether bank or substantive with NHS Grampian. - NHS Grampian would like to reserve the option to move the provider operator out of the cataract procedure room on occasions to Short Stay theatre and schedule NHS Grampian consultants to operate out of the procedure room. The staffing of the procedure room however will remain static. Please confirm that this will be acceptable to you. - How many cataract patients you expect to operate on during an all day operating session. The minimum expectation is 12 cataracts.
