Notice Description
Abertay University is currently looking to appoint a contract for an appropriately qualified professional(s) to undertake psychological assessments for students who present as having an SpLD. The successful individual/company will be required to provide a range of diagnostic assessments for Specific Learning Difficulties e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia. In addition, it would be beneficial if the successful individual/company has the ability to recognise (but not necessarily diagnose) other conditions such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADD or ADHD.

This contract notice follows on from the PIN reference: APR350072 There has been an increasing number of students diagnosed with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) over the past 10 years [https://www.hesa.ac.uk/data-and-analysis/students/whos-in-he/characteristics]. The purpose of assessing students who have (self-diagnosed) SpLD indicators is to provide appropriate advice, guidance and support. Students who are diagnosed with a disability (such an SpLD) can access additional support for the University and from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS), and comparable organisations in the other nations of the UK, in the form of Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) [https://www.saas.gov.uk/_forms/dsa_notes.pdf]. DSA is made up for three components, basic, equipment (i.e. computer hardware and software) and Non-Medical support (i.e learning support tutor costs, etc). Students diagnosed with an SpLD are also given dispensations by the University, including extra time in exams. Therefore, Abertay University is currently looking to appoint a contract for an appropriately qualified professional(s) to undertake psychological assessments for students who present as having an SpLD. The successful individual/company will be required to provide a range of diagnostic assessments for Specific Learning Difficulties e.g. dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and dysgraphia. In addition, it would be beneficial if the successful individual/company has the ability to recognise (but not necessarily diagnose) other conditions such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADD or ADHD. The proposed contract period will run from 01st July 2019 until 31st June 2022 with the option to extend for a further 2 x 12 month periods.
Renewal: Option to extend for 2 x 12 month periods. This has not been included in the above contract duration.
