Notice Title

Scottish Water Bio Solids

Notice Description

Scottish Water is seeking expressions of interest from existing and potential new service providers who can offer services to maximise value from our bio-resource materials including energy generation

Lot Information

Lot 1

Scottish Water currently produces approximately 14,000 dry tonnes of bio-resource per annum (a by-product of municipal wastewater activities - EWC code 19.08.05) within central Scotland (Tayside, Fife, Falkirk, Perth & Kinross, and Stirling). The material is a dewatered cake which varies in dried solids from approximately 20 to 25%. Scottish Water is seeking expressions of interest from existing and potential new service providers who can offer services to maximise value from our bio-resource materials including energy generation. These services could include utilising advanced energy recovery technologies to maximise energy recovery from Scottish Water's bio-resource materials. Alternatively the bio-resource material could provide a feedstock to either an existing or new service provider's energy recovery facility. The estimated annual value of the contract will be circa 1,000,000 GBP The PIN has been issued to provide advance notice to the market and to encourage suppliers to provide their views on the potential scope of energy recovery services on offer to Scottish Water for its bio-resources. All interested parties should provide brief details of their company, the services potentially on offer to Scottish Water, and outline of the energy from waste technology and potential locations of the service providers facility. All parties shall state in their response the expected annual quantities of bioresource materials which would be of interest to them. Any potential suppliers wishing to register an interest should do so by 5pm on 27th September 2019 together with a contact name. Note Scottish Water is seeking the views of external parties to explore bio-resource opportunities. However, depending upon the response to this notice and developing strategies then there is no guarantee that any future procurement process will follow thereafter.
