The study aims to provide local insight to help inform current and future air quality action plans, abatement measures and policy by accurately measuring Real-World Driving Emissions. The project would provide real-world driving emissions measurement data that accurately characterise the vehicle fleet mix, identifying the most polluting vehicles types (I.E. buses, Large Good Vehicles, vans and cars) and their respective contributions to emissions. Quantified and highly disaggregated emissions data would underpin robust mitigation measures, while assessing abatement technology performance (of NOx and Particulate Matter (PM) emissions), as well as supporting the improvement of local air quality emissions inventories and modelling through: Providing vehicle-emissions data consistent with existing vehicle classes used in emissions factor and emission inventory development. Potential to use data to update current local and regional models. One aim of the project is also to raise public awareness to the work being carried out by the Council to improve air quality in the AQMAs The commission is fully funded through a grant from the Scottish Governments Air Quality Action Plan Grant 2019/20. The study and all related reports need to be completed by 31st March 2020.
