Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Government is procuring services for the design, purchase, and installation of a fish counter system on the River Ayr, with an estimated value of £145,000. This procurement is currently at the active tender stage, having started on 3rd October 2019 and ending on 4th November 2019. The project aims to enhance fisheries management and monitoring in a key location along the productive west coast river. Interested suppliers can respond electronically, and it is essential for businesses to prepare their submissions in advance to avoid last-minute complications.

This tender presents significant opportunities for companies specialising in environmental monitoring, engineering services, and technological systems applicable to aquatic environments. Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with relevant experience in similar installations, particularly in ecological data collection or fishery services, would be well-suited to compete. The integration of innovative monitoring technologies in this contract could further bolster business growth in the public service sector, especially for firms focused on sustainability and natural resource management.

Notice Description

The Scottish Ministers' have a requirement for the design, purchase and installation of a fish counter system on the River Ayr.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The Scottish Ministers have a requirement for the design, purchase and installation of a fish counter system on the River Ayr.The installation of a fish counter system that can operate long-term on the River Ayr would prioritise a location low in the catchment of a productive west coast river that is well supported by local fisheries biologists. A new counter could be installed in the fish pass adjacent to the planned Archimedes screw hydropower turbine and hence allow a count of fish within this system.
