Provison of Welfare Buses
Notice Description
The Council's current fleet of wheelchair accessible buses are utilised by Social Care Service users throughout the area for a range of educational and care related activities. Provision of 6 wheelchair accessible buses is now required urgently to replace the current fleet vehicles. The contract start date will be in January 2020 and will remain in place until completion of the phased delivery of the vehicles or July 2020 at the latest.
Lot Information
Lot 1
- New 20 seat plus driver (21 Seat) ultra-low floor side and rear entry accessible minibus. Must have space/facility to securely accommodate a minimum 3/4 wheelchair occupants leaving a minimum 4 passenger seats. Ultra-low floor, high roof, twin entry bus, all steel construction where possible (or acceptable alternative) with suitable sound and thermal insulation. - Total flexibility within the saloon for multiple combinations of seating/wheelchair space is paramount. - Vehicle exterior length must not exceed 7900mm approx. - Vehicles built to this specification must satisfy the relevant requirements of the Motor Vehicle (Construction and Use) and the Public Service Vehicle (Condition of Fitness, Equipment and Use) Regulations and DPTAC specification in line with the DDA. All construction and fittings must meet latest Vehicle Type Approval Legislation.
