Provision of an Occupational Health Service
Notice Description
Inverclyde Council require an experienced supplier to provide an Occupational Health Service. The overarching principle is that we employ occupational health practitioners in order to help staff who are off sick to return to work as quickly as possible as well as improve and maintain the health of all staff whether off sick or not. It is a key objective of Inverclyde Council to maximise staff attendance at work and to support the maintenance of a healthy workforce. It is recognised that Council Managers, Human Resources, Health and Safety Advisers, employees and Occupational Health staff working together are critical to the success of meeting this objective. The Occupational Health Provider will be required to provide a range of services these are detailed in the Specification in the buyer attachment area for each lot.

Occupational Health Service
Inverclyde Council require an experienced supplier to provide an Occupational Health Service. The overarching principle is that we employ occupational health practitioners in order to help staff who are off sick to return to work as quickly as possible as well as improve and maintain the health of all staff whether off sick or not. It is a key objective of Inverclyde Council to maximise staff attendance at work and to support the maintenance of a healthy workforce. It is recognised that Council Managers, Human Resources, Health and Safety Advisers, employees and Occupational Health staff working together are critical to the success of meeting this objective. The Occupational Health Provider will be required to provide a range of services these are detailed in the Specification in the buyer attachment area.
Renewal: The period of the contract shall be 1st February 2020 until 31st January 2022 with the option to extend until 31st January 2023 and a further option to extend until 31st January 2024.
Provision of Counselling ServicesTo provide counselling services on an as required basis in response to referrals from the Council arising from the managing attendance and health surveillance programs delivered by Inverclyde Council, or in response to traumatic incidents, or complaints/grievances raised via Council policies such as Dignity and Respect and Grievance
Renewal: The period of the contract shall be 1st February 2020 until 31st January 2022 with the option to extend until 31st January 2023 and a further option to extend until 31st January 2024.
Provision of a Physiotherapy ServiceTo provide physiotherapy services on an as required basis in response to referrals from the Council arising from the managing attendance and health surveillance programs delivered by Inverclyde Council or in response to industrial injury incidents
Renewal: The period of the contract shall be 1st February 2020 until 31st January 2022 with the option to extend until 31st January 2023 and a further option to extend until 31st January 2024

Occupational Health Screening Technician - They should have received training in and been assessed as competent in: - A basic understanding of occupational health - Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology - Basic life support - Principles of infection control - Confidentiality, accountability and data protection They should also have been assessed as competent to: - measure blood pressure, pulse, height and weight, including BMI; - do urinalysis; - interpret new starter questionnaires; - do audiometry; - measure visual acuity to occupational standard; - measure colour vision to occupational standard; - do lung-function testing to include peak flow and spirometry; - assess mobility; - do drug and alcohol testing; - interpret food-handler questionnaires - interpret skin assessment questionnaires - carry out skin assessment - assess hand-arm vibration syndrome to tiers 1 and 2; - OH hazards and risk management; - display screen equipment assessment; and - interpretation of lung-function and audiometric results. Occupational Health Physician/Consultant - Registered with the General Medical Council As a minimum be an Associate member of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and hold a Diploma in Occupational Medicine, Must be Pension Fund approved to be able to sign the S18's in relation to ill health retirement. Must be qualified to carry out Tier 4 hand and arm vibration assessments. Lot 2 Counsellor - Training in workplace counselling and experience of working in organisations. Essential Training/Experience in trauma counselling or critical incident debriefing. Desirable Holding a qualification in Counselling from a BACP-accredited Course. Essential Experience and understanding of short term or time-limited brief counselling. Essential Membership of BACP , BPS , COSCA or UKCP D Lot 3 Physiotherapist - Qualified physiotherapist and full member of Chartered Institute of Physiotherapy"
