Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is conducting an open tender for the "Provision of Timber for Operational and Training Requirements". This procurement process is currently in the award stage, following the tender that was submitted electronically before the deadline of 12 noon on 5 December 2019. The location for delivery is across various regions in Scotland, including UKM2, UKM5, UKM6, UKM7, and UKM8. SFRS requires timber cut and delivered for training purposes connected to compartment fire behaviour units, urban search and rescue units, trench rescue, and forced entry training. The total contract value for each of the awarded lots is approximately £608,112 and was signed on 17 January 2020.

This procurement opens up significant opportunities for timber suppliers and businesses involved in the wood product industry, especially those capable of fulfilling large-scale orders and ensuring quality delivery. Suppliers with expertise in sourcing and cutting timber, particularly those familiar with training environments and operational needs for emergency services, would be ideal candidates for this contract. The ability to adapt to various delivery locations throughout Scotland will also enhance competitive positioning for bidders.
