Design, Manufacture, Supply, Installation and Commissioning of an Electric Furnace
Notice Description
The University require a supplier to design, manufacture, supply, install and commission an electric furnace at the Advanced Forming Research Center (AFRC)
Lot Information
Lot 1
Furnace shall comply with aeronautic, automotive & industrial standard (e.g. AMS 2750E, GE S291 & RPS 953) Note: furnace will be positioned in a workshop environment (dust & vibration) Furnace -Door opening: Width: 2800mm, Height: 2000mm, Loading height Circa 1200mm (TBC) -Useful zone: Width: 2700mm, Height: 1500mm, Length: 4000mm -Footprint: 7m long x 4m wide -Maintenance of Heating Rods through the front door -Useful zone starts at top of the fire dogs (on grid) -Noise shall not exceed 80 dba in average within an 8 hours shift -Insulation thickness should be calculated to ensure that the temperature on external wall of the furnace to be no greater than 40degC -Shall not contain asbestos or Ceramic Fibre Refractory (CFR). -Max temp: 1200degC -Operational temp: 400degC, 750degC, 850degC, 950degC, 1050degC, 1150degC -Opening time of door: shall not exceed 10s -Furnace will have vent to external atmosphere -Furnace accuracy: +/- 10degC in production (+/- 7degC at commissioning) -Furnace will have quartz viewing window on the left & right sides of the furnace for both viewing & use with optical instrumentation. Windows must be in line to allow optical path -Furnace window slots will have the option of being 'blanked out' -Heating ramp at full charge shall be 200degC/hour -Furnace shall have stairs -Furnace will have 2 heating zones one at front & one to rear -Shall be equipped with a high temperature fan to assist in heat treatment & low temperature operations -Provision for inert atmosphere (e.g N2 or Ar) Parts -Max Diameter: 600 mm -Max Length: 4000 mm -Max weight: 1000 kg -Maxi Load in the furnace: 3 parts, 3000 kg in total Instrumentation (Thermocouples) -Number of TUS thermocouples shall be minimum 14, or 9 + 5 x (number of zones - 1). The biggest number of those will be chosen. In addition to those thermocouples we should have load thermocouple according to procedure S291 -Holes in furnace walls shall be available for additional thermocouples/gas analyser probe. Two holes per zone & must be sealable when not in use -Control thermocouples shall be positioned away from the walls or gradient area in a median thermal area to avoid offset. Type R/S thermocouples to be used -Instrumentation shall be cabled following AMS2750E -Safety relay will have two thresholds above the control setup: first to alert & the second to shut down power before the control system. Type R/S thermocouples to be used -Thermocouples shall have provision to insert reference SAT thermocouple. These thermocouples to be contained within a sheath to prevent against mechanical damage. -12 additional thermocouples cables shall be installed between the recorder & a connection box on furnace. -Two 2mm thermocouples shall be installed in-between each refractory layer & casing on each wall Network architecture & Automation -HMI panel to be provided on control - Supplier shall program furnace's HMI views on the Press HMI -Must use standard communications protocol (e.g Profinet) -Must have internal data logger & connectivity means for external data collection via MQTT or OPC UA -Shall provide a record system (Network Attached Storage) & link to connect to the AFRC intranet -Shall be able to record 3 months of data & be able to transfer for archiving (every 2s). The system shall record: Soak set point, Ramp up set up per zone, Heating power -Shall be most up to date version which offers capacity for future upgrading -Shall provide Siemens PLC & HMI software (Win CC) or equivalent -At critical design review the Supplier & AFRC shall define a system of recording considering many aspects: e.g. type of data, data's importance, how data is recorded, sampling, format -Shall ensure the system incorporates comprehensive testing & diagnostic system to facilitate fault finding -Shall be able to identify different levels of fault reporting -Control of temperature within the furnace shall be done by PID via the PLC or local controller -Eurotherm controllers must be used. Please not your interest in this requirement by 22nd November 2019
