Summary of the contracting process

The City of Edinburgh Council is conducting a public procurement process for Adult Sensory Impairment services, initiated through an open tender procedure. This process is currently in the award stage, with a successful completion anticipated for contracts that provide support across four distinct lots, catering to various needs related to sensory impairments. The procurement, classified under services, primarily targets the local authority region (Edinburgh) and aims to enhance community support. Key dates include the original bid deadline of 17 March 2020 and an award notice issued on 15 September 2020, as the contracts are set to become operational from 1 October 2020.

This procurement presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with expertise in providing sensory support services. Companies capable of delivering specialised rehabilitation and mobility services, eye clinic support, social work services for Deaf users, and equipment installation will find suitable roles in this market. With an emphasis on quality and carefully structured award criteria, businesses can leverage their skills to secure contracts that not only contribute to their growth but also improve the quality of life for individuals with sensory impairments in the community.
