Notice Description

Scottish Borders Council wish to advance a flood study to reduce the flood risk to the town of Hawick through the use of natural and catchment based flood risk management measures within the approximate 350 square km catchment behind the town. This study is to deliver on the objectives of the Tweed Local Flood Risk Management Plan. The Council are currently delivering a Flood Protection Scheme in the town of Hawick and that project has a Hydraulic Model through the town. It is expected that the outputs from the new catchment model will be run through the existing model to determine the resultant change in flood risk to the town. The successful design consultant will be expected to push the current limits of 'natural flood management' analysis, and to work with the Council's Flood Risk Management Team and their Project Managers in a consultative way through discrete stage gateways to work together to evolve the flood study.
