Lot Information

Lot 1

Under Regulation Reg 6(1)(b)(ii) of the Procurement (Scotland) Regulations 2016, a contracting authority may award a contract without competition based on the following justification: Competition is absent for technical reasons (only if it is not caused by artificial narrowing down of the parameters of the procurement and no reasonable alternative or substitute exists) Explanation: This is a specialist piece of robotic equipment and there are no other suppliers available in the market to supply this type of equipment in the form factor required. The dual Sigma .7 haptic device is characterized by a large workspace, high resolution, full gravity compensation, driftless calibration at 4kHz sampling rate, suitable for both micro and nano manipulators, medical robotics, virtual simulations and teleoperation consoles. The arm haptic device provides torques sensing, 1kHz control rate, 3-dof translation (active), 3-dof rotation (active), 1-dof grasping (active) and software API + drivers. The principal purpose of the contract is to acquire goods in connection with research undertaken by the University.
