Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Borders Council is procuring contracts under the "Winter Maintenance Framework Agreement (Footways & Miscellaneous)" to secure third-party assistance for winter maintenance services. This initiative is categorised under general public services and is set in Newtown St Boswells, UK. The framework is currently at the award stage, with the decision having been made on 28th September 2021, following an open procurement process. The framework is structured into three distinct lots, offering opportunities for contractors over a maximum period of 36 months, with the possibility of initial 12-month contracts extendable up to an additional 24 months.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) specialising in winter maintenance services, including snow clearance, gritting, and associated logistics. Businesses capable of mobilising qualified personnel and appropriate equipment, particularly those holding the necessary licences to operate winter maintenance vehicles, are well-suited to compete. Suppliers interested in bidding should possess strong quality assurance processes and be ready to provide detailed documentation on their qualifications and insurance levels, aiming to fulfil the rigorous standards set by the Council.
