Summary of the contracting process

East Lothian Council has recently completed a public procurement process for the "Disabled Parents Project," aimed at supporting unemployed disabled parents in East Lothian. This project, funded by the Scottish Government, focused on addressing barriers to employment and providing key worker support and paid work experience opportunities. The procurement was conducted through an open procedure, and the contract was awarded on 1 March 2022 to Enable Scotland, with a total value of £127,535. The project also involves the delivery of community benefits to enhance social and economic outcomes within the locality.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the social services sector, particularly those experienced in providing support to disabled individuals and families. Businesses offering employment support, training services, or specialised programmes tailored to diverse needs would be well-positioned to compete. The emphasis on innovative strategies to overcome employment barriers indicates a demand for services that can demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to the challenges faced by disabled parents, bolstering potential growth for capable organisations in this field.
