The Provision of an Occupational Health Service
Notice Description
Inverclyde Council require an experienced supplier to provide an Occupational Health Service. The overarching principle is that we employ occupational health practitioners in order to help staff who are off sick to return to work as quickly as possible as well as improve and maintain the health of all staff whether off sick or not. It is a key objective of Inverclyde Council to maximise staff attendance at work and to support the maintenance of a healthy workforce. It is recognised that Council Managers, Human Resources, Health and Safety Advisers, employees and Occupational Health staff working together are critical to the success of meeting this objective The Occupational Health Provider will be required to provide a range of services these are detailed in the Specification in the buyer attachment area. Pre-employment health assessments aim to ensure that applicants are fit to carry out the duties of the proposed post and that the workplace will not adversely affect any known health problems. Occupational health examinations and management reports primarily aim to advise managers and employees on their fitness for work following prolonged or repeated absence; the likely return date; any steps which can be taken to assist the employee to return or to maintain full or modifies duties; as appropriate to their individual circumstances. Health Surveillance aims to protect the employees' health by monitoring and preventing any health effects possibly caused by exposure to workplace hazards.
