The City of Edinburgh Council (the Council) has a Statutory duty under Section 87 of the Burial and Cremation (Scotland) Act 2016, to provide a funeral service, collection, or removal from any appointed place of the deceased, make funeral arrangements including booking a cremation or burial, arranging the care of the deceased in their premises - which may include washing, dressing or embalming if required. In 2020 the Council provided 69 Funerals and in 2021 the Council provided 35 Funerals. Note: by submitting your interest you are agreeing to further engagement with the Council. This PIN is for market research purposes only, to determine if there are organisations with the capacity and capability to provide the service. The Council may decide to competitively tender this opportunity in the future.
