East Lothian Council (ELC) is considering options to use 9 existing council town center public toilets (list provided below) for commercial development. ELC is currently exploring different options for improving and continuing the public toilets service. This could include introducing charging to improve and maintain facilities and or alternative and innovative approaches to providing public toilet services as part of a commercial enterprise solution which could include for e.g. cafe or ice cream shop, virtual fitness studio, hot desk or flexible office provision etc whilst maintaining public toilet services.

East Lothian Council (ELC) is considering options to use 9 existing council town center public toilets (list provided below) for commercial development. ELC is currently exploring different options for improving and continuing the public toilets service. This could include introducing charging to improve and maintain facilities and or alternative and innovative approaches to providing public toilet services as part of a commercial enterprise solution which could include for e.g. cafe or ice cream shop, virtual fitness studio, hot desk or flexible office provision etc whilst maintaining public toilet services. The proposal from ELC is that interested businesses will get the opportunity to propose: Refurbish/alter any or all of the existing 9 public toilets premises and develop alternative trading initiatives that will increase the choice of amenities available to the public, and provide huge support for economic development including creating more jobs.
