The Argyll Timber Transport Group meets bi-annually and provides for liaison between the forestry sector and Argyll and Bute Council to resolve challenging timber transport issues based on tools such as the Agreed Routes Maps and Timber Transport Management Plans (TTMP's) further details of which can be found at the following websites: https://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/transport-and-streets/timber-transport http://timbertransportforum.org.uk/maps/agreed-routes The Project Officer post is jointly funded by the Strategic Timber Transport Scheme (STTS), Argyll and Bute Council, Forestry and Land Scotland (West Region) and private sector members of the Argyll Timber Transport Group (ATTG). The Project Officer role is a vital element in developing and maintaining trust between all parties and achieving local cooperation between public and private partners. The Project Officer is required to facilitate meetings and prepare briefing papers in addition to representing the group at meetings with public and private sector partners when required. The full meetings of the group are normally chaired by the ATTG chairman, but the Project Officer will be expected to organise and chair additional meetings which may need to be held on timber transport related topics. The Project Officer will assist with the development of funding packages to support the delivery of strategic timber transport projects which will benefit timber movement and reduce the impact of timber haulage on local roads/communities within Argyll.
