Summary of the contracting process

Fife Council has completed the procurement process for a framework contract titled "Framework: Drone Surveys for Inspection - Bridges & Structures," within the general public services industry category. The Council, based in Glenrothes, UKM72, sought to establish a framework for drone surveys including confined spaces, bridges, and coastal/harbour structures. This selective procurement followed a restricted procedure and encompassed three lots, awarded in January 2025, with a framework period of 24 months plus potential extensions. The contracts, signed on 14 January 2025, saw the selected suppliers UAV 365 and LandScope Engineering Ltd, both SMEs, providing services worth a total value of £69,893.75. Key procurement stages such as tendering and contract award have been completed.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses in drone technology, survey services, and engineering to engage with Fife Council on projects requiring advanced survey techniques including photogrammetry and LiDar. SMEs with expertise in these areas stand to benefit significantly, as the framework allows for additional purchases under Regulation 72 of the Public Contract (Scotland) Regulations 2015. Suppliers demonstrating high-quality service and competitive pricing were favoured through the award criteria, thereby incentivising providers to bring innovative solutions and further their business growth in the public sector. As the procurement method employed is a restricted procedure, businesses with strong credentials in similar services are well-suited to compete and partake in forthcoming tenders within this framework.
