Summary of the contracting process

Aberdeenshire Council has awarded a contract for the provision of an Early and Effective Intervention (EEI) Youth Justice Service to Barnardo's. The contract focuses on general public services and is mainly targeted at children and young people aged 12 to 18 who have come into conflict with the law, with exceptions for younger children in specific circumstances. The service will cover the Aberdeenshire region (UKM50). Key details include an annual contract value of GBP 115,000 and a total potential budget of GBP 575,000 for a five-year term with a 3+2 structure. The procurement process was conducted through an open procedure, and the contract stage is complete as of 14 January 2025, with the contract signed on 19 December 2024.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses specialising in youth justice services, particularly those experienced in early intervention and restorative justice approaches. Companies that can deliver effective support services tailored to young people and their families could benefit from this contract. The primary aims include addressing the needs of at-risk youth, engaging their support networks, and providing specific offence-focused support. Businesses equipped to handle such nuanced and sensitive work, especially those with a strong track record of delivering similar services, would be well-suited to compete for future opportunities in this sector.
