Notice Description

NatureScot requires the services of a competent contractor to review and update some of our existing and draft health and safety documents to take account of any updated legislation or approved code of practice requirements. Alongside that we are also looking for the services of a competent contractor to provide a health and safety advisory service in support of the in-house Health and Safety Manager.

Lot Information

Creation of new guidance documents and updating of existing guidance documents

NatureScot requires the services of a competent contractor to review and update some of our existing and draft health and safety documents to take account of any updated legislation or approved code of practice requirements. Where relevant, industry good practice should also be incorporated into the updated documents. The documents to be updated are: Fire Plans and Fire Fighting for National Nature Reserves and other NatureScot occupied land Fire Safety for Offices and Buildings Managing the provision and use of personal protective equipment Management of Work Equipment - Choosing and using work equipment safely Managing the risks from manual handling Managing the risks from noise at work Managing the risks from vibration Paths and the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations Work at Height Draft document on Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations 2012 Draft document on managing the risks from dangerous substances In addition to that work, we also require the contractor to create a number of new guidance documents for our safety management system covering the following subject areas: Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 Control of Artificial Optical Radiation at Work Regulations 2010 Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 - Individual air compressors on sites. The Control of Electromagnetic Fields at Work Regulations 2016 For the creation of the new documents, NatureScot will supply a Microsoft Word based template that the document structure must follow. Copyright in the new and updated documents will rest with NatureScot. We recognise that the subject areas noted for new guidance documents may only have minimal impact on NatureScot work and employees so the successful contractor will be required to ensure that the prepared documents are relevant in both content and extent to our particular circumstances and are not simply a re-working of the regulations.

Health and Safety Advisory Service

NatureScot requires the services of a competent contractor to provide a health and safety advisory service in support of the in-house Health and Safety Manager. The service would be expected to include but not be limited to the following: Answer routine queries based on our policies and their own expertise (taken in the context of our own policies) Research novel or detailed queries Provide Regulation 7 (MHSWR '99) Competent Person cover during Health and Safety Manager absence Preparation of briefing or topic specific guidance (sub-policy/instruction level) Undertake reviews of work areas or work processes to identify areas for improvement or respond to employee concerns Provide support to the Health and Safety Management System processes of Plan, Do, Check and Act within NatureScot Work would be allocated via the NatureScot Health and Safety Manager or People and Organisational Development Team.
