Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process conducted by East Dunbartonshire Council pertains to the "A807 Active Travel Corridor - Detailed Design & Client-Side Support" project, located between Torrance and Milngavie. The focus is within the environmental protection sector, as indicated by its classification under COFOG. The procurement followed an open procedure, with the tender stage previously active and now culminating in an awarded contract as of 15 July 2025. Notably, the contract is valued at £316,995.92. The project envisages comprehensive service provision, entailing the detailed design of Sections 2 and 3 of the travel corridor, including client-side support during its pre-construction and construction phases. The procurement falls under the CPV category 'services,' and involves significant planning for sustainable environmental development initiatives within the specified UKM81 region.

This tender presents substantial growth opportunities for businesses with expertise in providing multidisciplinary professional services in engineering and environmental design. Large-scale businesses adept in traffic signal design, topographical surveys, and similar undertakings—who can readily meet the insurance and financial prerequisites—are particularly well-suited to compete. As the contract outlines specific tasks like CCTV of drainage and traffic surveys, industry players specialising in these areas will find this tender beneficial for leveraging their niche capabilities. The project's focus on active travel infrastructure within a defined geographic locale opens avenues for businesses aiming to enhance their portfolio with sustainable and community-driven projects. The potential for subcontracting parts of the project provides additional opportunities for smaller enterprises. Overall, the procurement paves the way for businesses to contribute to and grow within the burgeoning field of environmental and civil engineering services.
