The service is intended for approximately 8,467 patients in Brechin and surrounding areas within the current practice boundary. It will return the practice from its existing 2C arrangement to an independent contractor model under an NHS General Medical Services contract. The provider will deliver high-quality, person-centred clinical services in a primary care setting, building on existing good practice and taking a community, health and social care approach. Services must meet the standard of comparable provision elsewhere in NHS Tayside and comply with the requirements of the Scottish GMS contract. This is a healthcare services opportunity, classified under CPV 85120000, with delivery based at Brechin Health Centre.

The procurement reached tender: NHS Tayside invited offers through an open procedure, with electronic submission. The tender deadline was 25 August 2026 at 12:00 UTC. Bids were due to be opened on 26 August 2026 at 12:00 UTC, with evaluation scheduled to start at that time. The contract period is 1,800 days, approximately five years, and renewal is to be agreed with the successful bidder. There is one lot covering the full service requirement, and variant bids are not allowed. Bids must remain valid for 90 days and be submitted in English. Evaluation includes suitability for entering the prescribed NHS General Medical Services contract and technical eligibility, with delivery reserved to a particular profession. The successful provider must comply with the NHS (General Medical Services Contracts) (Scotland) Regulations 2018, as amended or replaced.

This opportunity suits established general practice providers, medical professionals and healthcare organisations able to take on independent contractor responsibility for a substantial primary care patient list. Applicants need the clinical capability and operational capacity to provide general medical services in Brechin and surrounding areas while maintaining person-centred care and meeting NHS Tayside standards. The requirement favours providers familiar with the Scottish NHS General Medical Services contract and its statutory requirements, including the regulatory framework governing performance. Applicants involved in other NHS Tayside contracts, existing schemes or services must be able to demonstrate that they have enough capacity to deliver this service without prejudicing their other obligations. Bids must identify the names and qualifications of staff assigned to the work, and the service is reserved to an appropriately qualified profession.
