Request for Information - Endoscopy Service - Brighton and Hove
Notice Description
The purpose of this RFI is to gauge market interest for the provision of a Community Endoscopy Service and provide the CCG with valuable information to help update and improve the current service specification. NHS Brighton and Hove CCG intends to commission a service which will provide GPs access to endoscopy services in a range of settings, including; dedicated diagnostic centres, GP centres, secondary care and at a variety of mobile locations across Brighton and Hove. Commissioners are considering commissioning a Community Endoscopy Service under a single provider contract. The service is to be offered at payment by results (PbR) tariff for approximately 1,540 endoscopy procedures per annum. The CCG intends to commission a local community service that will be easily accessible to patients within Brighton and Hove working alongside BSUH. The service would be offered for tender under a standard NHS contract for a period of 3 years commencing on the 1st October 2017 with option to extend for a maximum of a further two years. The proposed service will provide; Direct GP rapid access referral for Gastroscopy. This Endoscopy Service will provide for a direct access diagnostic service offering GPs the opportunity to refer patients directly for upper GI endoscopy without prior clinic consultation. Flexible Sigmoidoscopy or Colonoscopy will provide for a direct access flexible sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy service with nurse triage offering a diagnostic service for GPs to assist them with the management of patients under the age of 55yrs who present to primary care with lower GI symptoms. This service will provide a nurse triage appointment prior to scope to ensure patient appropriateness for this pathway. This Service would deliver a safe, high quality service for NHS Brighton and Hove CCG that offers patients a choice of provider, together with choice of location, date and time of appointments, excellent outcomes and an improved patient experience. A draft service specification and RFI response form is available on the e-tendering portal (link below). RFI responses are requested to be submitted via the portal by 4pm on Thursday 6th April. Additional information: Please read the text below before attempting to answer any of the questions in the RFI. The details contained within the text below are subject to change and are included here only as a guide to a service that the CCG may re-commission. It does not constitute a formal commitment to re-commission a service, nor does it stand as a specification for any service. This is a process designed to help the Commissioners form a view of the best way to commission the service and is not the beginning of a tender exercise. A further tender advertisement will be issued at the appropriate time as / if required. Your response at this point will not have a bearing on any future tender bids you may wish to submit at a later time. You will not be disadvantaged if you choose not to respond to this RFI but it will be helpful to understand your views at this early stage, so you are encouraged to respond as fully as you can. If you would like to discuss any aspects of the requirements, please call Katie Chipping on 01273 238 730 (9.00-17.00, Monday to Thursday), Ian Thompson on 01273 238 727 (9.00-17.00, Monday to Friday) or send an email to katie.chipping@nhs.net or ian.thompson5@nhs.net suggesting a date / time for a telephone conversation.
