Summary of the contracting process

The Bedford Borough Council has announced the completion of a tender for Childrens Advocacy & Return Interview Services, aimed at enhancing support for looked after, vulnerable, and at-risk children. The contract, which falls under the health and social work services industry category, will run for a maximum of five years, beginning on 1 April 2017 and concluding on 31 March 2022. The tender was conducted using an open procurement method, and the total contract value is £125,000. The associated tender period ended on 3 March 2017, and the services are to be delivered within the East of England region, specifically Bedford, UK.

This tender provides an opportunity for service providers, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary, community, and social enterprises (VCSEs), to engage in a significant contract supporting children's advocacy services. Businesses specialising in social work, youth service provision, and advocacy services would be well-suited to compete, given the focus on listening to the needs of children and facilitating their voices in appropriate contexts. The contract's length and value highlight the ongoing need for dedicated services in this field, creating potential for sustainable business growth.

Notice Title

Childrens Advocacy & Return Interview Services

Notice Description

Listening to children and young people lies at the heart of the Government's programme to improve outcomes for every child. This is especially important for those times when children have a problem, concern or want to make a complaint. Commissioned services will allow the local authority to meet its statutory responsibilities for looked after, vulnerable and at risk children and young people. In this context BBC is inviting potential service providers to submit a tender for the provision of Issue Based Advocacy, Residential Visiting Advocacy and Return Interview services. The contract will operate for a maximum of 5 years (3 + 1 + 1) from 01 April 2017. Bedford Borough Children's Services will ensure that children they are working with will have access to advocacy services that will assist them in being heard, where this is appropriate. The service will cover all Looked After Children, whether they are in residential homes, foster care or secure accommodation.
