Notice Description

The Wordsworth Trust located in Grasmere, Cumbria wishes to appoint a Market Research Consultancy to provide insight that will inform the development of the visitor experience and the creation of an Activity Plan for the project: "Reimagining Wordsworth". A full brief of the role and outcomes is attached. This is a Heritage Lottery Funded project, with the aims to encourage more people, from a more diverse range of backgrounds, to participate in and be inspired by literary and cultural heritage. It will help achieve the 'vision' described below. The Wordsworth Trust has been celebrating the life and poetry of William Wordsworth since 1891. Having recently received a development grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, we now have a wonderful opportunity to make it possible for even more people to discover one of our greatest poets. William Wordsworth wrote great poetry in the language of ordinary people. In doing so, he helped to change literature forever. His concerns - individual freedoms, the plight of the poor, the power of the human mind, our relationship with nature - are as important now as they were in his lifetime. Wordsworth's poetry speaks to us still. The Wordsworth Trust looks after Dove Cottage, a unique literary heritage site of a poet's home with internationally important collections in the heart of the Lake District. This landscape and its people inspired the writing of both William and his sister Dorothy. We will create exciting new ways to...s of working on an international literary site and poet's home. - Proposed methodology - Proposed budget and timetable - Capacity to take on a project of this scale. Please give details of the project team (including the provision of backup in the event of illness or other circumstances) and estimated time allocation. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview early January 2017. The interview panel will comprise members of the Trustees' Project Committee, the Director and members of the Trust's Senior Management Team. We would expect shortlisted candidates to make a site visit to the Trust in advance of the interview. Timetable It is envisaged that the Market Research Consultant will begin work in January 2017. - The deadline for achieving the first outcome is end January, beginning of February 2017. - The deadline for achieving the second outcome is to be confirmed, but most likely all research needs to be completed by end April 2017 to ensure it informs the final concept design. Of note, first iterations of early concept designs will already be available by end Jan/Feb 2017. This brief is for work that will cover the 'development' phase of the project, concluding in second-round submission due January 2018. We aim to complete the entire 'Reimagining Wordsworth project by 2020, to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the birth of William Wordsworth. It is envisaged that the Market Research Consultant will begin work in January 2017.
