Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit is initiating a procurement process for the Community Musculoskeletal (MSK) services in the West Midlands region, specifically targeting the catchment areas of NHS Stafford and Surrounds CCG, Cannock Chase CCG, and South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula CCG. This market engagement event is scheduled for 12 December 2018, with a deadline for expressions of interest set for 10 December 2018. The procurement is currently in the planning stage, aiming to facilitate early discussions with potential providers about capacity and capabilities to deliver high-quality patient care. Information about the full-service specification will be published as part of the future procurement process in early 2019.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in providing healthcare services, particularly those focused on musculoskeletal treatment and rehabilitation. Companies with expertise in clinical services, especially those recognised under the Light Touch Regime applicable to health services, would be well-positioned to compete. The engagement aims to attract not just large healthcare organisations but also SMEs that can deliver innovative solutions and high standards of patient care within the NHS framework. Interested parties should take note of the engagement event and prepare to present their service offerings to meet the anticipated demand for fast and effective MSK treatments.

South Staffordshire Community MSK Services. Market Engagement event

Notice Description

NHS Stafford and Surrounds CCG, Cannock Chase CCG and South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsular CCG are intending to undertake in the future a formal procurement for Community Musculoskeletal services across the aforementioned CCG catchment areas. The Commissioners wish to undertake early engagement with potential Providers and Sub-contractors and the market in general who share our passion and commitment and who are dedicated to providing the very best choice, service and patient care standards. In particular the commissioners would like to discuss their plans with the market to understand capacity and the ability of Providers to deliver this service. The proposed service will look to provide early assessment, diagnosis and treatment of MSK conditions; it will treat patients quickly and effectively before their condition becomes chronic and more complex to treat. In partnership with the patient, treatment goals and a plan of intervention will be agreed, in accordance with the diagnosis and prognosis of the condition. The service will educate and support patients and their carers with their conditions and offer advice on management of daily activities, preventative measures, equipment and health promotion to improve patient experience. The final full-service specification will be published as part of a future procurement process in early 2019. Additional information: The market engagement event relating to these contracts will be held on 12 December 2018 in Stafford. Accordingly, the contracting authorities are only bound by those parts of the Regulations detailed in Chapter 3 Particular Procurement Regimes Section 7. The contracting authorities are not voluntarily following any other part of the Regulations. The procedure which the contracting authorities are following is set out in the MOI. As the CCG is a relevant body for the purpose of the National Health Service (Procurement, Patient Choice and Competition) (No 2) Regulations 2013 these Regulations also apply to this procurement.
