Summary of the contracting process

The University of Bristol is planning to tender for the provision of outsourced catering services at its Langford Campus in North Somerset. This opportunity encompasses various food service options including a café, delivered catering, and event catering. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with the tender expected to open in October 2019. The contract is anticipated to start on 1st August 2020, extending over a period of 5 to 7 years, with a total estimated value of £1.12 million. The industry category falls under cafeteria services as per the Public Contracts Regulations 2015, and the tender is being conducted under the Light Touch Regime.

This tender presents significant opportunities for growth for businesses in the catering sector, particularly for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary-community social enterprises (VCSEs). Companies providing cafeteria, canteen, and catering services would be well-suited to compete for this contract. With an expected increasing student population at the campus and a daily influx of commercial clients, there is potential for robust revenue generation, as evidenced by historical sales figures from the existing café facility.
