Summary of the contracting process

The Environment Agency has completed a tender for a serviceability extension of medium format 4 band metric aerial camera systems, which falls under the realm of aerial photography services. The procurement was managed through a direct method, specifically a single tender action due to it being below the financial threshold. The tender period officially ended on 16 November 2021, while the contract spans from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2024. The contract was awarded to Leica Geosystems AG, with a total value of £150,315, and the buying organisation is located in London, England.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialising in aerial photography and multispectral imaging technologies. Notice Title

Serviceability extension of medium format 4 band metric aerial camera systems

Notice Description

The Environment Agency has a requirement for high quality high resolution multispectral imagery for a wide range of analysis purposes including coastal habitat mapping and in support of response to flood and environmental incidents. These data are obtained through the use of multispectral imaging systems in the form of the CASI (compact airborne spectrographic imager) and a pair of 4 band aerial medium format metric cameras installed on board the Environment Agency (contracted) survey aircraft which is managed and run by the Geomatics team within National Monitoring Survey. This new contract will put in place a support and maintenance package for the two existing 4 band medium format digital camera systems, which are currently used on board the Environment Agency survey aircraft. This will extend the useful life of these assets by a minimum of 3 years. The current systems are Leica RCD30 units.
