Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence, ISTAR, based in Bristol, is currently managing a tender titled "Bridging the Gap (BtG)" in the Information Technology Services sector. This procurement process, classified under the main category of services, is at the tender stage with a deadline for submissions set for 11 January 2021. The total value of the contract is £500 million, and it is intended to bridge the gap between the existing Future Logistics Information Services (FLIS) contract and a future long-term strategic project set to begin on 1 July 2022, lasting until 30 June 2027.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the IT services sector, particularly those with expertise in inventory management systems and related technologies. Companies capable of providing innovative solutions to replace existing legacy systems would be well-positioned to compete for this contract. Given the scale and duration of the contract, this could foster substantial business growth for successful bidders, especially those looking to engage in long-term partnerships with a key buyer within the defence sector.
