Summary of the contracting process

The NHS County Durham Clinical Commissioning Group, represented by the North of England Commissioning Support (NECS), is currently in the planning stage for the procurement of a Volunteer Driving for Healthcare Appointments Service. Titled "NECS372 Request for Information Help To Health," this initiative aims to gather market feedback on the draft service model for providing a chargeable door-to-door transport service for patients needing assistance travelling to healthcare appointments. The engagement period is set to conclude on 5th August 2020, with a provisional budget of £145,000 per annum for a potential contract lasting five years. The services will cater to areas within the North East of England, particularly addressing the needs of patients requiring reliable transport options for accessing healthcare services.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary community sector enterprises (VCSEs), to engage in the healthcare transport sector. Companies that offer transport services, have experience in managing volunteer driver programmes, or possess expertise in healthcare logistics would be well-positioned to compete. By participating in this procurement process, businesses can enhance their service offerings, contribute to the community by facilitating access to healthcare, and potentially expand their operations within the growing domain of patient transport services.
