Notice Title

GB-London: Online Safety - Media Literacy Strategy - Mapping Exercise and Literature Review

Notice Description

In April 2019 the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) and the Home Office jointly published the Online Harms White Paper (OHWP), which sets out government's proposals for regulation and policies to tackle harms taking place online. The government is currently evaluating consultation responses to the proposals set out in the White Paper and is due to publish its response to the consultation by the end of 2019. DCMS is seeking to appoint a provider to: a. undertake a mapping exercise of online media literacy initiatives, including any evaluation which accompanies them; b. conduct a literature review of evidence on the levels of media literacy among online users and any barriers to media literacy; and c. identify and review any existing evaluation of media literacy initiatives which were identified in the mapping exercise (part (a) above). Together with DCMS's analysis of consultation responses and findings from our stakeholder engagement, this research will feed into the government's policy development on online harms, our response to the consultation and our programme of activity to empower users to keep themselves and their children safe online. Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
