Summary of the contracting process

Portsmouth City Council is currently conducting a tender titled "Market Consultation - Discharge to Assess Pathway Beds," focused on enhancing residential nursing care services within the South East region of the United Kingdom. The tender is in the active planning stage and is set to end on 20 November 2017. The project's objective is to collaborate with a select number of care homes to create a Discharge to Assess pathway, which would entail the provision of approximately 10 beds across the city to facilitate proper transition and rehabilitation for patients discharged from hospital.

This tender presents a valuable opportunity for care homes and related service providers to engage in a competitive procurement process that could significantly improve their business reach within the healthcare sector. Businesses that specialise in residential nursing care, rehabilitation services, or transitional care would be particularly well-suited to participate. Engaging in this contract not only allows these providers to secure funding but also to play a vital role in community health support by offering quality care and services to vulnerable individuals during their transition period.

Notice Title

Market Consultation - Discharge to Assess Pathway Beds

Notice Description

Portsmouth City Council (PCC) wishes to work with a small number of care homes to develop a Discharge to Assess (D2A) pathway out of hospital. It is expected that approx. 10 beds would be required within the city. Our expectation is to have the beds spread across as few a number of homes as possible to enable most efficient use of the support services (Physio, OT, Nursing, Social Work) in managing the flow of people into and out of the beds. A D2A (or Transition) Bed is used when people are ready to be discharged from hospital but are not ready to return to their former home or level of independence. They may require time, support, care and potentially therapies to enable them to be rehabilitated and reabled to move to being supported on a longer term basis. Following this consultation process it is the Authority's intention to consider the appropriate route to market and conduct a full tender in order to select a supplier.
