Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process for the project titled "PS21155 - Self-Driven Healthcare: Mapping Exercise Quotation Request" is being conducted by UK Shared Business Services Limited, a key buyer for the UK government based in Swindon, England. This award notice signifies the conclusion of a competitive quotation exercise in the research and development services sector, specifically focused on healthcare. The contract, valued at £30,000, commenced on 10th November 2021 and will run until 31st March 2022. The procurement method employed is a limited, competitive quotation below threshold, with the tender period having concluded on 26th October 2021.

This opportunity could benefit businesses in the health and research sectors, particularly those that specialise in mapping exercises and consulting services related to market research, economic analysis, and innovation strategies. Companies that can demonstrate capabilities in identifying barriers and drivers within the healthcare landscape, as well as those that can develop new business models and offer regulatory insights, would be well-positioned to engage with Innovate UK and participate in future related tenders. The focus on collaboration suggests that SMEs with innovative solutions and strong local insights may find opportunities to grow through partnership with IUK in addressing systemic challenges in healthcare.

Notice Title

PS21155 - Self-Driven Healthcare: Mapping Exercise Quotation Request

Notice Description

***** THIS IS AN AWARD NOTICE, NOT A CALL FOR COMPETITION ***** This procurement is being concluded following a competitive quote exercise. Brief Description of Requirement Innovate UK (IUK) is the UK's innovation agency, it helps to drive productivity and economic growth by supporting businesses to develop and realise the potential of new ideas. There are a number of criteria that an innovation area must meet to receive IUK support. These include having a significant market size (national and international), the UK having appropriate capabilities in the area (academic, industrial, NHS etc.), alignment with government/UK priorities (e.g., Health, EDI, Net-Zero) and significant ROI potential. It is also important that IUK only supports areas that would not be successful without some form of state intervention or would take a protracted timeframe to develop. As such, before IUK funds a new area it needs to perform a 'mapping exercise' to examine these issues and review any barriers and obstacles that have led to market failure or limited development and growth. The Health Team at IUK has identified several important healthcare areas that may benefit from support following a recent strategy review process and is looking to work with partners to conduct a 'mapping exercise' to identify key barriers and drivers facing these areas and determine what support is required to address them. This support is not limited to the standard IUK approach of funding competitions to help companies develop new innovations. To progress this vision IUK will work with a wide range of stakeholders to address areas such as systemic enabling and infrastructure barriers, developing new business models, regulatory issues, obtaining real world evidence, novel procurement approaches, changing clinical pathways or assistance with scaling up. IUK is there for looking to collaborate with partners to design and deliver a mapping exercise in a range of healthcare areas.
