Notice Title

Compact Optical spectrometers

Notice Description

This project represents an expansion and enhancement of the current UK Deriving Emissions linked to Climate Change (DECC) network, a UK government funded project in order to extend measurements of greenhouse gases and ozone depleting substances. Systems will be installed at remote atmospheric measurement stations within the UK and data used to monitor atmospheric greenhouse gas mixing ratios. The contract is for 2 x optical spectrometers for CO, N2O and H2O measurements in the atmosphere. The systems should be/have: compact, rack mountable (3U or less); lightweight (less than 10 kg each); low power consumption (30 W or less once warmed up and under normal operations); use mid-infrared laser spectroscopy; a measurement frequency of 2 Hz or faster; a measurement temperature operating range between 10 - 35 @C. a precision (1 sigma) at 5 minutes better than 0.04 ppb N2O, 0.05 ppb CO and 10 ppm H2O; instrumental drift < 0.1 ppb; communicate with GCWerks for data acquisition; communicate via RJ45 or RS-232; control cavity pressure on the outlet of the cavity to ensure cavity stability; Run on 230VAC use an external pump. Shipment to the School of Chemistry and an installation manual should be included. This procurement is to measure atmospheric N2O and CO as part of the Building a Green Future Capital Aware 2022/23 upgrade of the UK DECC Network. The required system needs to fully allow data acquisition by GCWerks. The equipment must comply with CE/UKCA Standards This procurement is funded by UKRI - Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). The contract must be in place before March 2023. The contract will be on the University of Bristol Terms and Conditions. There will not be any negotiations on any of the substantive terms of the tender documents, including the Conditions of Contract.
