Summary of the contracting process

Chelmsford City Council is inviting tenders for the refurbishment works of Sandford Mill Cottages, aiming to transform the properties into market-ready accommodations. The project falls under the works category and specifically involves the refurbishment of run-down buildings. The tender period ends on 10th March 2017, with the contract expected to commence on 3rd April 2017 and conclude by 26th May 2017. The overall contract value is estimated at £500,000, with a minimum value of £100,000, and the procurement method is an open procedure, allowing for various bidders to participate.

This tender presents significant growth opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that specialise in construction and refurbishment. Given the scoped works, businesses focused on electrical installations, plumbing, carpentry, and general construction will find themselves well-suited to compete. The contracting authority is particularly interested in accommodating SMEs, which enhances their chances of securing contracts while contributing to local economic development in the East of England.
