Summary of the contracting process

The Welland Procurement Unit is overseeing a public procurement process titled "Tender for Home to School Transport and Public Service Routes," which falls under the Road Transport Services category. This procurement, located in Oakham within the East Midlands, is currently in the award stage and was published on 10th September 2017. The total value of the contract is £1,630,000, with the contract period running from 31st August 2017 to 30th August 2022. Interested suppliers were required to submit their tenders by 2nd June 2017, through an open procedure approach.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that operate licensed transportation services such as buses and taxis. Companies capable of providing transport for school children, especially those with special educational needs (SEN), are particularly well-suited to compete. Moreover, businesses with staff qualified in first aid and existing procedures for background checks will have a competitive advantage, as these are required by the contracting authority.
